You just got to LOVE facial expressions with children!  Unrehearsed and raw!
I recently did a birthday party, and the look on the Boy's face when the sparkler went on...priceless!  And the excitement just before you blow out the candles...takes me years back!

Tango the night away

These photographs were taken at a gala event held at Arabella Western Cape Hotel and Spa recently.  They were part of the entertainment for the evening.

I first starte shooting with flash, however the flash took the whole "feeling" away.  I wanted to capture more movement using motion blur.  The flash was switched off, used manual and set a lower shutter speed.  As I was using a telephoto lens, it was possible that the photos might be out of focus.  Took the chance and I am satisfied with the end product.

Lesson I learned during the evening.....rules are meant to be broken some times.

Breakfast at Oskars

Welcome to my blog!

This week theme is "Breakfast".  With all the possibilities in Hermanus, it is some times difficult to dedice where to go just for a coffee.  Emilia (my photography buddy and talented cook of The Cook Club) and I decided on Oskars Delikatessen, situated in Harbour Road, Hermanus.

Our cuppacinos were  served in beautiful Delft painted cups and saucers - I love any thing Dutch!  The food is beautifully presented and tasty too!  This is a definate must on your coffee shopping list!

First day on the job!

I am very excited to have started my very first blog.
My name is Salomé Nortier and a live in beautiful Hermanus.  I have just started a career in photography. 

With this blog I will share my knowledge as a photographer, will post photographs for you to comment on (should you like), and will share my trials and tribulations as an self employer.
